Programs

Kids have a natural fascination for airplanes and the magic of flight. The Fantasy of Flight program channels this fascination into a true learning experience by using hands-on aviation activities to illustrate core STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) principals.

Project Pilot  The Project Pilot program was developed by Walt Barbo, Fantasy of Flight's President. Project Pilot harnesses students' natural fascination with flight to increase learning in core STEM principals.

Students first plan a flight - identifying specific airports on an aeronautical chart, using latitude and longitude to measure and plot a course, and calculating time, speed, distance and fuel requirements for the flight.

Student then use flight simulators to fly the course, putting their calculations to a 'real world' test.

FLYE (Fun & Learning for Youth & Educators) Programs

Offered at airports throughout the State, FLYE programs are multi-day aviation adventures in Colorado communities, primarily outside the Denver Metropolitan Area. FLYE programs include K-12 Educator workshops, Project Pilot and other flight-simulator-based programs offered at local schools, hands-on, inquiry-based activities for learners of all ages at local airports and other exciting aerospace learning opportunities. Each event is tailored to the local community using a replicable model developed by Fantasy of Flight.
